Patio Installations

If you’re dreaming of a backyard that feels like an extension of your home, a well-built patio is one of the best investments you can make. At Woodland Decking, we design and install paver and stone patios across the Twin Cities metro that are both beautiful and Minnesota-tough.

Why Choose a Paver Patio?

Minnesota’s weather isn’t kind to flatwork. Snow, ice, and the freeze/thaw cycle can crack and shift ordinary concrete slabs. That’s why we install engineered paver systems designed for movement and durability.

  • Freeze/Thaw Resilience: Pavers flex with the ground instead of cracking like concrete.

  • Drainage-Friendly: Jointing sand and base layers allow water to pass through, preventing puddles and ice patches.

  • Low Maintenance: Easy to clean, and if one paver ever chips, it can be replaced individually.

  • Custom Design: From natural stone textures to modern linear patterns, your patio doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

Patio Materials We Offer

We source materials built to last in Minnesota’s climate, with options for every style and budget.

  • Concrete Pavers (Premium Engineered Systems): Not the same as poured concrete, these are interlocking, high-density pavers designed for strength and style. Available in smooth contemporary finishes, textured stone looks, and multiple colors for custom designs.
  • Natural Stone: Timeless and unique. Flagstone, bluestone, and granite create patios that feel organic and one-of-a-kind. Each piece is hand-set for character and beauty.
  • Permeable Pavers: Eco-friendly systems that let water filter through the joints into a prepared base, reducing runoff and helping with drainage. Perfect for lake properties and municipalities that encourage stormwater management.

Our Patio Installation Process

Every project starts with a plan that fits both your home and your lifestyle.

  1. Consultation & Design – We talk through how you’ll use the space: dining area, fire pit, hot tub pad, lounge zone, or pathways. Then we create a custom design with layout options, material samples, and 3D visuals if needed.

  2. Site Prep – Proper excavation and base prep are the keys to a long-lasting patio. We install deep, compacted aggregate bases designed for Minnesota soils.

  3. Laying the Surface – Pavers or stone are set with precision, aligned for pattern and slope, and jointed with polymeric sand for stability.

  4. Finishing Touches – Edging restraints, sealing (optional), and landscape tie-ins create a finished look. We can also integrate steps, sitting walls, planters, or pathways.

  5. Lighting & Features – Extend the evenings with low-voltage LED lighting built right into the patio, walls, or steps. Add gas or wood-burning fire features, water accents, or pergolas for shade.

The result is a patio that feels like a true outdoor room- solid, stylish, and ready to enjoy.
